"It is the perfect mix of innovation, requirements and team spirit that I like here."
Robin, tell us a little about yourself. How did you come to Shopmacher and what made you want to become part of our team?
I became aware of Shopmacher through a career day at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen. The professional presence and the exciting projects appealed to me immediately. After more research and a positive online interview, I started as a working student and, after completing my degree in business informatics, I stayed. It is the perfect mix of innovation and team spirit that keeps me here.
What did your path to Agile Project Manager look like? Were there particular experiences or people who inspired you along the way?
I am still a junior project manager, but the path so far has already been rewarding. In the beginning I accompanied our Head of Development, Carsten, to workshops and learned an incredible amount in the support team about communication and the technical background of e-commerce solutions. These experiences, combined with the subsequent work in the project team, cemented my passion for project management.
Can you give us a glimpse into your everyday work? What excites you most about your tasks?
Working mostly from home, I collaborate closely with the senior project manager, organizing, steering and communicating both internally and with our customers. Developing solutions and structuring customer requirements in a clear way excites me anew every day.
What challenges do you face day to day and how do you deal with them?
The biggest challenges are distributing capacity and reviewing customer requirements. It is important to me not just to meet requirements, but also to critically question their purpose and their impact. Through many follow-up questions and a clear structure in customer communication, we make sure we always offer the best solutions and, ultimately, implement them too.
How would you describe teamwork and company culture at Shopmacher?
Collaboration in the team is defined by good communication. Through retros we constantly work on improving our processes. The freedom I have and the friendly way we treat each other in the team make working here special.
How does Shopmacher support your personal and professional development?
Through regular roadmap conversations, my development is supported and encouraged. My goal is to lead projects independently and to keep building my knowledge in project management as well as my technical expertise. A role as a consultant also appeals to me for the future.
Are there any trends that particularly interest you?
In general, I am fascinated by automation options that make my work as a project manager easier. I also see the use of AI, for example to help prepare and optimize user stories, as extremely useful and valuable.
What would you advise someone who wants to follow in your footsteps?
Be organized, communicative and tech-savvy. Here at Shopmacher you learn something new every day, grow with your tasks and can make a real difference.
Besides work, what excites you? Do you have hobbies or passions you would like to share with us?
To clear my head, I play football four times a week; the competition and the team play excite me. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family at the city's favourite barista.
