New international e-commerce platform for Skins Cosmetics
The new e-commerce platform of Dutch retailer Skins Cosmetics, market leader in the sale of and consulting around exclusive, high-quality cosmetics and perfume niche brands, is now online and available to its customers. Shopmacher's e-commerce specialists from Gescher in Westphalia took on the development and delivery of the new e-commerce platform for the multi-channel retailer, which also operates physical stores in the Netherlands, Belgium and South Africa, and completed it on schedule.

B2C SHOPS IN FIVE LANGUAGES
We rebuilt the Skins Cosmetics B2C shop completely, both in the backend and the frontend. That means all processes behind the scenes are now up to the latest technical standard, and the shop presents itself to customers with a fresh, modern, informative and clean interface.
The foundation is the popular shop software Shopware in its Enterprise Edition. This platform lets the Skins team edit content independently in day-to-day operations, without agency support. After go-live, the platform is now active in the most important languages for Skins Cosmetics: Dutch and English.
SHOPMACHER PHILOSOPHY "THINK BIG, START SMALL"
In this project Skins Cosmetics follows the Shopmacher philosophy of "think big, start small" with continuous development afterwards, and will keep working this way. So the new, modern commerce platform is now usable for the cosmetics retailer in a lean but fully functional version, and will be developed further step by step.
Before and after
B2B PLATFORM FOLLOWS B2C
Firmly planned and already commissioned is the development of a B2B platform, with which Skins Cosmetics wants to expand its niche position further and conquer another exciting market. One intended core function of the B2B portal is the fully online handling of ordering and billing processes in the business with Skins Cosmetics' trade partners. This will also fully digitalize the sales channels in the B2B segment. The result will be more efficient and more service-oriented processes for the trade partners. We are set to map the necessary processes on the basis of Shopware's B2B Suite. The corresponding requirements for the B2B platform were already defined in detail in a joint workshop.
DURING THE COVID RESTRICTIONS, B2C TAKES PRIORITY
Given the current exceptional situation caused by the COVID pandemic, in which most of the physical stores of Skins Cosmetics and its trade partners are closed, the priority for the near future is on the rapid further development of the B2C segment and on handling the sharply increased traffic in the online business. Thanks to the Shopmacher procedures described above, with small, efficient development steps, and the scalability of the underlying Shopware technology, a flexible response to the current special situation is possible in a timely manner and in line with requirements.
