Feedback culture – seven practical tips
Here are Patrick’s seven practical tips:
1. exemplify feedback from above
Managers should actively give feedback and be open to feedback themselves. When managers value feedback, employees do too.
2. enable regular feedback
Use fixed feedback routines, e.g:
-
- Weekly 1:1 meetings
- Quarterly Reviews
- Feedback rounds after projects
3. combine positive & negative feedback
4. formulate constructively & solution-oriented
Instead of “That was badly done” better:
“I noticed that there was a challenge here. Do you have any ideas on how we can improve it next time?”
5. create psychological safety
Employees need to feel safe to give honest feedback without fear of negative consequences.
6. use anonymous feedback options
7. integrating feedback into the corporate culture
Make feedback a natural part of everyday working life – in meetings, project reviews and daily communication.

The Shopmacher are a member of the MACH Alliance
If you want to become a member of the MACH Alliance, you have to prove that MACH doesn’t just stand on slides, but works in real systems. The certification process is rigorous and the requirements are high. And that is precisely why this admission is special for us. Only a few agencies worldwide have provided this proof. The Shopmacher now have too. And yes, we are damn proud of that.
