Tell us Phil, how did the collaboration with BVB start?

Our collaboration with BVB kicked off in June 2019, when we were given the mandate to take over the club’s B2B and B2C instances. After a two-month onboarding phase, the first endurance test followed: The players ran out in their special coal and steel jerseys on December 07, 2019 and triggered an incredible run on the club’s store. Within 15 minutes, the server collapsed – a steep challenge for our team, who didn’t hesitate and got the technology back online in record time. Shortly after the store was back online, it was recording almost 1,000 orders per minute. Heja BVB!

What were the milestones of the last 5 years?

After this acid test, our work initially focused on stabilizing the systems. We took care of smooth sales and functioning storytelling – even in high-load scenarios. Next on the agenda were internationalization, a comprehensive front-end relaunch and in-depth consulting services. The collaboration continued to develop milestone by milestone. From operational support to a strategic partnership in which processes were optimized, workflows improved and a fan-centric architecture developed.

What sounds like a lot of work here was in fact a very challenging job. At the same time, however, it was also a huge pleasure for the black and yellow heart that beats in the hearts of many of our developers and consultants. Especially when event highlights such as the DFB Cup in our Gescher office or the Champions League final at Wembley were on the agenda.

How has the collaboration developed over the years?

Having started out as an integrator and development team, we now do much more for BVB. We have become a permanent technology partner and solution developer. The club now follows our expert advice not only for e-commerce projects, but also when it comes to digital business processes and product data management. Over the last 5 years, we have become a regular member of the BVB digital squad. Which – in case it hasn’t become clear yet – we are incredibly proud of.

What were the biggest successes?

The results of our collaboration speak for themselves: we have seen rising turnover and sales figures in e-commerce, the automation and standardization of previously error-prone processes and a continuous improvement in data quality and speed. We have also been able to reduce security risks and significantly expand our development, project management and consulting mandates. So after the game is also before the game for us … things are looking bright for us with BVB in the future. And it’s not just the BVB hardcore fans in our team who are delighted about this.
