WELCOME TO THE COMMERCE VILLAGE

Everyone is talking about IT and commerce landscapes – yes, of course! But when we ask in conversations how our counterparts visualize such a landscape, they are always at a loss. To change this, we have developed an interactive map that explains and illustrates the complexity of modern IT architectures in a simplified way. For us, a powerful commerce platform is like the well-oiled infrastructure of a small town. Sounds exciting? Then visit us in the Commerce Village.

SO THAT EVERYONE FINALLY UNDERSTANDS
WHAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT.

Because there simply wasn’t a map for commerce technology landscapes until now, we decided to put just such an overview online. Without any claim to completeness. But in the form of a comprehensible translation. Because for us, a powerful commerce platform works like the well-oiled infrastructure of a small town.

André explains the commerce village.

WE HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS, ANDRÉ.

How do you come up with the idea of presenting an e-commerce landscape as an interactive city? What added value can the Commerce Village offer our customers? And how do our partners benefit from being represented in the Village? Questions upon questions – our CEO André answers them all:

How did the idea of presenting the world of e-commerce as a city come about?

In architecture consulting, we generally talk about the “IT landscape” or – to put it more succinctly – the “e-commerce landscape”. In the end, however, this is always just a system diagram and not a real landscape. At some point, this gave rise to the idea of presenting such a system diagram as a real “landscape” and using metaphors to provide visual orientation in order to illustrate relationships more concisely.

Was it clear from the start that your landscape would be a city?

No, not directly. In the first step, for example, we had the “Monolith Mountains”, the “Commerce Clouds” or the “Data River” in mind. The Commerce Village was then created as part of the conceptual development of the idea. No longer a landscape with a map, but a small town with a city map. But the idea of orientation and guidance via a visual map has remained.

Does Commerce Village also have something to do with the role that customers are increasingly ascribing to you recently?

Absolutely. The idea and the claim result from the fact that we have been increasingly perceived and requested as guides in the e-commerce tech jungle for some time now.
