BLACK AND YELLOW ONLINE FAN SHOP
For Borussia Dortmund’s online fan shop, BVB Merchandising GmbH relies on the enterprise e-commerce provider SHOPMACHER, based in Gescher, Westphalia. Shopmacher is now responsible for operating and, above all, continuously improving the black-and-yellow platform for fan merchandise of the iconic club from the Ruhr region.

SHOPMACHER’S EXPERTISE IN SHOP DEVELOPMENT CONVINCES BVB
The BVB online fan shop, which serves both B2C and B2B markets, is based on Shopware software and has delivered solid performance for years in selling fan merchandise for the eight-time German champions. “Just like in top football, stagnation in online merchandising means falling behind. We need and want continuous development of our online offerings and services for our fan community and partners,” says Matthias Zerber, Managing Director of BVB Merchandising GmbH. “Shopmacher is an expert in the continuous development of enterprise platforms and has extensive experience with Shopware. Therefore, Shopmacher is an ideal addition to our merchandising team.”
SHOPMACHER ECOMMERCE HEALTH CHECK AS A PARALLEL TO VIDEO ANALYSIS
For BVB’s sports management, using video analysis to identify weaknesses and discover areas for improvement is standard practice. Similarly, Shopmacher approaches the continuous improvement of e-commerce platforms.
With the eCommerce Health Check, Shopmacher has developed a standardized process to quickly and efficiently assess the overall condition of an e-commerce platform and immediately derive actionable steps for improvement. The health check evaluates online shops across seven dimensions: system architecture, software, hosting, performance, deployment, UX and design, and content.
“With our eCommerce Health Check, which we also use for BVB, shop owners can quickly and expertly assess the state of their platform and identify optimization potential,” says Carsten Dütschke, initiator of the structured Health Check model at Shopmacher. “This brings new momentum and better sales results—which, after all, is what commerce is all about.”
Following the completion of the Health Check, BVB and Shopmacher are now working together to implement the optimization process.
