Shopmacher develops new online platform for safety education

Helping retail clients achieve economic success through e-commerce technology is Shopmacher’s daily business. Recently, the company, headquartered in Gescher, Westphalia, was given the opportunity by Provinzial Versicherungen in the Rhineland and Westphalia to build a new online platform dedicated to fire safety education. Background: Improper handling of fire regularly leads to fire-related casualties and property damage amounting to millions of euros. Many fires are also caused by children playing with fire. This is reason enough to start fire safety education early. Additionally, fire safety education (FSE) for adults is a critical component of fire prevention.

For many years, the fire departments in North Rhine-Westphalia have been supported in this important task by Provinzial Versicherungen in the Rhineland and Westphalia. Fire safety educators, as well as interested teachers and educators in the most populous German state, can access a wide range of teaching and educational materials on fire safety and prevention through the online shop of the Provinzial-operated platform sicherheitserziehung.de. Shopmacher has now been tasked with rebuilding this online distribution platform from scratch using the latest technology.

B2B TYPICAL REGISTRATION FUNCTION FOR AUTHORIZED OBTAINING OF THE MATERIALS

The development of a new platform became necessary because the existing shop had reached the end of its life cycle and was no longer economically updatable. Shopmacher will develop and implement the successor system using the new Shopware 6 software. To ensure that only authorized partners of Provinzial Versicherungen involved in fire safety education and prevention can access the teaching materials, the platform will be equipped with a B2B-specific registration feature.
