Shop relaunch: Radwelt Switches from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6 and Prepares for the Upcoming 2024 Cycling Season During the Quiet Winter Months
In 2010, the bicycle retailer RADWELT Coesfeld launched its first online shop. As this no longer met modern performance and security standards, the company decided to rebuild the platform. With the help of Shopmacher, radwelt-shop.de transitioned from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6.

About RADWELT Coesfeld
Since its founding nearly 90 years ago, RADWELT Coesfeld GmbH has been a leading family business in the bicycle trade, positioning itself as a reliable provider of high-quality bicycles and accessories. The dedicated Radwelt Coesfeld team, all enthusiastic cyclists themselves, not only provides expert advice but also offers tailored solutions to meet specific customer needs. Since 2007, Radwelt Coesfeld has also been operating its own online shop under Radwelt-Shop.de.
Challenge
The existing Shopware 5 platform of RADWELT Coesfeld had become outdated over time. Its performance and stability no longer met modern standards. With Shopware announcing that it would no longer support Shopware 5 starting in 2024, the family business decided to rebuild the platform.
Implementation
Together with Shopmacher, who had previously completed several redesigns for the Coesfeld company, Radwelt evaluated potential systems and ultimately decided to switch to Shopware 6. The reason: Shopware 6 was affordable for the mid-sized company and, with features like the Rule Builder and Flow Builder, easy for shop managers to use. In March 2023, Shopmacher began the rebuild, and by the end of October, the new online shop was launched. In the process, the e-commerce experts not only updated the technology but also modernized the design. The entire shop now appears fresher, and all products are better displayed, focusing more on customer needs. Shopmacher also adapted the extensive range of shop features to Shopware 6.
Result
With the launch, Shopmacher created a high-performance foundation for RADWELT Coesfeld, on which all future technical innovations can be built. The company now plans to use the quieter winter months to test the system’s stability and make fine adjustments. This way, the family business will be well-prepared for the upcoming 2024 online cycling season.
