What were your reasons for starting an apprenticeship/study at SHOPMACHER?

Fynn: I graduated from comprehensive school in 2021 and then spent two years doing my vocational baccalaureate in electrical engineering – information and communication technology. I’ve always enjoyed working on computers and was interested in IT. An internship at SHOPMACHER then showed me that training as an IT specialist – application development was just right for me.

Katharina: I graduated from high school in 2024 with advanced courses in math and computer science. I wanted to start a degree course that had practical relevance and prepared me for the digital world. The dual study program Bachelor of Arts E-Commerce at SHOPMACHER was the perfect choice. I particularly liked the fact that I was able to do an internship here beforehand to get to know the company.
In addition to choosing the industry and profession, it was particularly important to me to find a company that would treat me as an equal and where I wasn’t just “the apprentice”. That’s exactly what I found at SHOPMACHER. Here, trust is placed in me, responsibility is transferred and my opinion is taken seriously. This not only creates motivation, but also a real sense of belonging.

What are the contents of your training/studies at SHOPMACHER?

Fynn: In my apprenticeship, I’m learning all about the development and implementation of software. I deal with various programming languages and tools and work on real projects. I’m also learning how to analyze technical problems and develop solutions.

Katharina: My studies are very varied. I’m learning the basics of e-commerce, such as online marketing, web shop management and logistics. At the same time, I also have a lot to do with the technical side and learn how store systems work and can be optimized.

What do you enjoy most about your training/studies?

Fynn: What I enjoy most is that I learn something new every day and can work directly on exciting projects. It’s great to see how your own ideas are implemented and how you can contribute to the success of a project. My colleagues are also super helpful and support me when I have questions.

Katharina: I think it’s great that my studies are so practice-oriented. I can apply what I’ve learned directly in the company and see what theory looks like in reality. I also like the mix of university and work. On the one hand, I learn the theoretical basics and can then deepen them directly at SHOPMACHER.
What I particularly appreciate about my time at SHOPMACHER is not only the professional support, but also the human support. The team treats me as an equal, takes the time to answer my questions and encourages not only my professional but also my personal growth. It creates a working atmosphere in which you feel comfortable, are taken seriously and can continuously develop. Both professionally and as a person.

What tips do you have for students who are interested in training or studying in the field of e-commerce?

Fynn: Definitely do internships! It’s the best way to get to know different professions and companies. And don’t be afraid to ask questions. At SHOPMACHER, you will always get an answer and be well received.

Katharina: Find out about the various options early on and choose an area that really interests you. Be open to new things and use the time you have available to prepare yourself in the best possible way. The professional world is diverse and e-commerce in particular is an exciting, future-proof field with many development opportunities that offers numerous facets.
If you are interested in SHOPMACHER: Apply! It’s really worth it.
